An ounce of raw cultured buttermilk for you to culture your own buttermilk.
Simply add to a clean, empty quart size jar, add raw milk and stir with a wooden spoon, top with a clean coffee filter secured with a rubber band, and allow to sit in room temperature for up to 24 hours (until thickens).
Use in all of your favorite pancake, muffin, scone, waffle, and more recipes!
Note: buttermilk will culture better with skimmed milk (cream taken off the top of the gallon), but whole milk is fine to use too! If a smoother buttermilk is desired, simply blend (without heating) buttermilk until smooth to desired texture after culturing.
Always save a little bit of buttermilk from each batch to culture more!
